About the business area, Group Compliance & Governance:
- Compliance is an independent function at ADCB which takes an active approach to risk management and monitoring, ensuring the Bank complies with applicable laws, regulations, rules and market standards. The Group creates, implements and monitors policies and procedures designed to prevent or detect financial crime and any compliance breaches of the Bank, its employees and clients. It also monitors and measures the impact of conduct risk and compliance on the Bank’s risk appetite and profile.
In this role, your key responsibilities include:
- Analyse all new products and services, Bank-wide policies and procedures and client facing forms, providing written comment on observations to allow management to provide accurate advice and approval to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Conduct gap analysis on new/amended laws and regulations, interpreting results and the implementation of all new/amended regulations across the Bank, its subsidiaries and Branches to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Manage the “report breach” mailbox for the Bank, review reported cases, maintain appropriate log, escalate internally, update breach register as required, report to CBUAE on significant breaches and violations
- Manage the Consumer Protection and Market Conduct framework set by the Bank in order to report serious deviations, recommending actions to be taken
- Manage the outsourcing framework set by the Bank to ensure it remains compliant with CBUAE regulations
- Deliver the insider trading programme across the Bank and its subsidiaries, maintaining the breach register in order to report to regulators materiality of issues identified
- Oversee the maintenance/update of the regulatory matrix, the management/administration of the conduct compliance programmes (whistleblowing, conflict of interest, Chinese walls etc.) and the Bank’s ABC programme to ensure they are managed effectively to mitigate conduct risk and ensure accurate records are kept
- Design and deliver Bank-wide training in relation to conduct compliance and other regulatory implementations in order to advise and educate Bank employees to ensure full compliance
- Manage self and team in line with ADCB’s people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance
- Manage the effective achievement of the team’s objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing the team and providing formal and informal feedback to maximise overall performance, engagement and motivation
The ideal candidate should have the following experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the banking sector, with a strong focus on corporate and investment banking.
- Proven track record in regulatory compliance advisory, particularly in the analysis and implementation of new products and services.
- Extensive experience in interpreting and applying Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) and Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA) regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing conduct compliance programs, including whistleblowing, conflict of interest, and anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) frameworks.
- Technical & Professional Skills: Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance risk management in a financial institution.
- Expertise in conducting gap analyses on new/amended laws and regulations and implementing regulatory changes across business units.
